Middlesbrough's teenager superstar Ben Doak has been told he has the talent to play at the very highest level with Liverpool and to do that, he's at the best place to learn at the Riverside Stadium. The 19-year-old Scotland international is proving to be a big hit at Boro since arriving on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.

It's a deal that so far is working out perfectly for both clubs. Michael Carrick has acquired a young attacking midfielder with a fearless attitude and undoubted skill to strength his attacking options, while Liverpool boss Arne Slot is getting to see the development of one of his highly-rated young stars week after week in the tough battle of the Championship.

Doak's Boro contribution and recent display for Scotland has only underlined the excitement in Liverpool about the young talent. Former Reds player Stephen Warnock is confident the teenager will reach the very top playing at Anfield, but he's also confident Doak is in the best place right now to develop his career.

Warnock told BetMGM; "I think it's the perfect move for him at the moment, he needed to go and play first team football. Playing in the under 23s or 21s was far too easy for him and to improve as a player he must come up against better skilled defenders, seasoned professionals who know how to play against pace which he will find in the Championship.

"He is so quick and direct, it was interesting to watch him in the Scottish national team up against Josko Gvardiol when they played Croatia. He is Man City’s first choice left back, and he tore him to pieces, that will have given him a load of confidence but he has to be able to do that consistently if he wants to play for Liverpool. That's the step up that you've got to be able to make as a young professional.

"His loan to Middlesbrough will have done him no harm at all. It is a serious opportunity to develop under a young manager who plays his young talent, and it allows Slot to see how he performs at a higher level. The other side to it is your body needs to grow and adapt to how physical football is in the men’s game. He might pick up the odd injury throughout this season or he might absolutely be fine with it. But he will learn a lot about himself as a player this season and he's definitely got the talent to play at the highest level for Liverpool."
