MIDDLESBROUGH have recalled Sonny Finch after a difficult spell on loan at MK Dons, with the youngster set to spend the second half of the season back on Teesside.

Finch joined the League Two club in the summer on what was initially expected to be a season long loan, but the Dons changed managers soon after, with Scott Lindsey replacing Mike Williamson.

Finch found game-time limited under Lindsey and made just eight appearances and two starts - both of which came in the EFL Cup.

With his loan spell not going to plan, Finch has spent plenty of time back at Boro and featured regularly for the Under-21s, which was allowed under the terms of the transfer agreement.

However, having played for Boro in the Carabao Cup defeat to Stoke earlier this season, Finch won't be able to play for a third club this season so will spend the rest of the campaign on Teesside.

Boro won't see that as a bad thing. Michael Carrick has talked in the past about how he likes to keep a close eye on developing youngsters, and Boro's head coach is a big fan of Finch, who has made Championship appearances in the last two seasons.

Meanwhile, Terrell Agyemang has also returned to Boro from Airdrie.

The 22-year-old made 19 appearances for the Scottish Championship side, scoring twice.
