Middlesbrough drew 1-1 away to promotion rivals Burley on a treacherous evening at Turf Moor.

As Storm Darragh battered the West coast, Anfernee Dijksteel gave Boro an early lead before former Boro loan man Connor Roberts equalised before the break. They would be the only goals in a hard-fought clash towards the top of the Championship.

In a game of two halves, largely because of the influence of the wind, Boro had to put bodies on the line in the first half to go in level, before turning the screw in the second half and having enough of their own chances to win it. Here’s how they rated.

Seny Dieng - 6

A difficult evening for him returning to the side in such conditions. He made a couple of solid saves and did well under pressure from inswinging corners in the second half. But there’s a question mark over the goal and whether he was too far off his line.

Anfernee Dijksteel - 8

Scored an excellent goal to give Boro the lead as his excellent season continued. There were one or two sloppy moments in possession, but in general he defended so well throughout and supported the attack when possible too.

George Edmundson - 7

A solid and committed defensive performance, particularly in the first half when Boro had to put bodies on the line. He might feel he could have done better with one second half header from Dan Barlaser’s free-kick though.

Dael Fry - 8

Would just edge our man of the match after an excellent defensive display. His first half was the very definition of putting his body on the line for the cause and his second half last-ditch tackle on Hannibal summed up a superb evening.

Neto Borges - 7

Played his part in a really solid defensive display, with the dangerous Jaidon Anthony switching flanks in the second half to move away from. Get forward with more ambition in the second half too and laid the ball onto a plate for Burgzorg in what should have been Boro’s winner.

Dan Barlaser - 7

An excellent Barlaser performance on a difficult evening. Boro struggled to control the midfield but Barlaser was committed and hard-working throughout while picking a delightful ball to unlock the defence for Boro’s goal. Unlucky not to have a second assist with his free-kick for Edmundson too.

Hayden Hackney - 6

Not Hackney’s finest evening. He improved in the second half and helped Boro drive forward with more ambition, but he was still a little more sloppy in possession than his usual standards.

Ben Doak - 7

Not the easiest of games for him to thrive in as Boro struggled for their usual control, understandably away at such a good side. He still managed to be a menace down the right wing though with some good runs. He had one good chance in the first half too.

Finn Azaz - 7

Burnley appeared to have done their homework and didn’t give Azaz much of the space in the pockets that he likes. Despite that, and therefore not having as much influence of the game as he usually has, he still battled away, turned over possession a couple of times to set Boro off on bright counters while also playing some great early long balls over the top, including the one that nearly put Latte Lath in.

Delano Burgzorg - 6

Plenty of effort and some decent moments driving Boro forward on the counter. But he also missed a glorious second-half opportunity to put Boro back in front when he fired straight at James Trafford.

Tommy Conway - 6

Tough game for the striker in which the work he did to help his side defensively was more recognisable than any meaningful sights of goal. His work rate could not be faulted.

Substitutions

Emmanuel Latte Lath (For Conway, 71’) - 6 - Really unlucky with one chance when Azaz played him in behind before Trafford’s hand denied him as he looked to round the keeper.

Riley McGree (For Burgzorg, 77’) - N/A

Isaiah Jones (For Doak, 88’) - N/A
