Middlesbrough stance on Glen Kamara transfer with Premier League clubs also 'interested'
Middlesbrough are monitoring Glen Kamara's situation and would have interest in signing the midfielder this month if the finances of the deal were viable.
Boro were first linked to the midfielder in the French media by L'Equipe, who also claim Premier League sides Ipswich Town and Southampton have interest, as do Trabzonspor. A Boro source has indicated to Teesside Live that Kamara would be a player of interest, though the finances of a deal could make it difficult.
Kamara is available this month after a disappointing spell at Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais. He joined them in the summer from Leeds United in a €10 million deal and is said to be earning a sizable wage in France. However, he's struggled on the continent, making only 13 appearances and being axed from the training squad following the Coupe de France exit to Ligue 2 side Troyes.

Boro believe the 29-year-old would add some steel to their midfield, with Aidan Morris's importance really highlighted in the past two months while absent through injury. Jonny Howson has struggled with injuries throughout the season too, and they'd ideally like to send young academy star Law McCabe out on loan.
As such, Kamara has become a player of interest this month as Boro hope to take advantage of his difficult situation in France. The Finish international had one season at Leeds last term and made 42 apperances for the side that reached the play-off final. A Finland international, he had four-and-a-half years at Rangers prior to that, making it into the PFA Scottish Premiership Team of the Year in 2021 as Steven Gerrard's side won the league title.
Though Boro are said to face competition from the Premier League duo, Boro and Trabzanspor, who showed interest in Dan Barlaser back in the summer, are the two sides said to be more active in their pursuit, accoring to the French report.
As talks continue on Teesside over a potential sale of Emmanuel Latte Lath, and work on a potential replacement is ongoing, Boro are also continuing talks to try and sign Mark Travers on loan from Bournemouth and Ryan Giles from Hull City, while in conversation to make George Edmundson's loan from Ipswich a permanent deal.
