Middlesbrough stance as Millwall indicate interest in making Josh Coburn loan a permanent switch
Millwall are interested in signing Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn on a permanent transfer this month, despite his injury struggles at the Den.
Coburn is spending the season on loan at Millwall and has two goals in seven appearances. He’s currently sidelined until next month after suffering a broken metatarsal in November, which was his second injury since moving to the capital club. As first reported by South London Press, Millwall are keen to make the move a permanent one.
As far as Boro’s stance on a potential sale, Teesside Live understands it’s very similar to the one with Isaiah Jones earlier in the month in which, while not actively looking to sell the academy graduate, they would be open to the possibility if Millwall are willing to pay the right price.

Coburn exploded on to the scene as an 18-year-old, scoring on his Riverside debut against Sheffield Wednesday. He’s made 56 appearances for Boro in total, scoring 12 goals in that time - including that memorable FA Cup winner against Tottenham.
Last term, the 22-year-old broke properly into the Boro first-team fold after returning from a productive loan spell at Bristol Rovers. However, after a positive run in the team between October and November, he began to suffer injuries that plagued the rest of his campaign.
As such, with Boro strengthening their attack with the addition of Tommy Conway, Coburn was allowed to join Millwall on loan in the summer, with a desire to have him try and play regularly in the Championship to allow his body to get used to that. So far, however, injuries have once again prevented it.
Despite that, and despite the fact Alex Neil has since replaced Neil Harris as Lions boss while Coburn has been sidelined with his foot injury, Millwall appear to have seen enough to try and make the Richmond striker’s switch to the Den a permanent one. Talks will likely take place before the transfer deadline a week on Monday, with the additional funds from a sale no doubt helpful in the incoming transfer deals Boro are currently working on.
