Mike Tyson will make his boxing return as he takes on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a highly-anticipated fight in Texas on Friday night.

The legendary heavyweight will be back in the ring for his first official bout in nearly 20 years, with the fight finally going ahead after it was postponed due to a health scare. While it had originally been scheduled for July, it was pushed back after Tyson fell ill on a flight due to an ulcer flare-up.

The 58-year-old is, of course, one of the greatest boxers in the sport's history, winning 50 of his 58 professional fights, with 44 of those by knockout. Known for his ferocious boxing style, he dominated the division for years and earned a pretty penny in doing so.

Some have estimated Tyson's career winnings as being over half a billion pounds, but the heavyweight legend would end up losing it all due to reckless spending and expensive tastes. However, he has managed to build himself back up again and today still boasts a sizeable net worth. Here's everything you need to know.

The 58-year-old has revealed he has been 'begged' not to take part in the fight but remains focused on proving himself against a much younger opponent to show he still has what it takes. Of course, he will be rewarded handsomely with both men set to boost their bank balances significantly as a result of the fight. Here's everything you need to know.

What is Mike Tyson's net worth?

As one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time, Tyson is thought to have earned over $300 million (£234 million) during his boxing career.

In fact, Forbes has claimed that his career earnings could have been more than half a billion pounds, estimating them to be as high as $685million (£535million).

He earned £80 million in just one night when he lost to Lennox Lewis in 2002, while he pocketed a total of nearly £50 million for his bouts with Evander Holyfield and Frank Bruno.

However, Tyson managed to blow all of his enormous fortune as he filed for bankruptcy in 2003, citing extreme spending habits and poor financial planning as reasons for losing all his money. At the time, he was in debt to the tune of $23 million.

His reckless spending saw him buy huge mansions, expensive sports cars and throw lavish parties, while he is also believed to have spent millions of pounds in legal fees. Some of his most extravagant purchases including buying his now ex-wife a solid gold bathtub that set him back £1.75 million, as well as spending at least £100,000 on two pet tigers.

However, Tyson is thought to have slowly built his net worth back up to around £10 million, partly through running a successful cannabis company and podcast series.

Earlier this year, the heavyweight great admitted that at one stage in his career, he would blow through $5 million in 48 hours.

"Five million dollars might go in a couple of days, yeah. I'm a big spender," he said. Not now but when I was a young kid, $5million might go in a couple of days."

Asked if he regretted it, however, he said: "Never! I had such a great time."

How much is Mike Tyson getting paid for fighting Jake Paul?

The exact details of each fighter's contract have not been disclosed, but Tyson has downplayed the amount of money he is set to receive from fighting Paul.

"This fight is not going to change my life financially," he told SPORTBible. "If I did it for free, it's not going to change my life. My wife is constantly telling me, you do not need to do this fight. This is what I want to do, this is me. I'm seeking my glory."

That said, Tyson is still reportedly set to earn around $20 million (£15.5m) from the fight.

Some sources claim the purse will be split 50:50 between the two men, but Paul has boasted that he is set to make double what his opponent is getting, claiming he will go home with $40 million (£31 million) for fighting the boxing legend.

Ex-wives and family tragedy

Tyson has been married three times and has fathered seven children - Mikey, Rayna, Amir, Miguel, Exodus, Milan and Morocco.

He had his first child, Mikey, out of wedlock with his girlfriend, model Kimberly Scarborough, in 1990. Tyson had been married to Robin Givens from 1988 to 1989 but they didn't have any children, with the actress sadly miscarrying after falling pregnant.

The boxer then had his second and third children, Rayna and Amir, with his second wife, paediatrician Monica Turner. They divorced in 2003 and Tyson went on to father his fourth and fifth children, Miguel and Exodus, with exotic dancer Sol Xochitl - but they did not marry.

Tragically, Exodus died aged just four in 2009, after being involved in an accident in which she became tangled in a cord as she played on a treadmill at her home.

Less than two weeks later, Tyson married his current wife, Lakiha Spicer. Together, the couple have two children, Milan and Morocco.

"Pray more and work harder," said the boxer when asked for the advice he would give his children. "Be the hardest worker and believe yourself. I can't help them by giving them [my kids] money. I can only hurt them if I give them money.

"They have to learn because if they have no aspirations and experience no adversity, at the slightest fight they will give in."
