Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is concerned that Gabriel Jesus has picked up a serious injury with the number of players on the Gunners' treatment table continuing to grow. Jesus was stretchered off during the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

The Brazilian striker was replaced by Raheem Sterling at the Emirates Stadium. Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri are other attackers sidelined at the moment, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White, both defenders, are missing.

"Big worry, that’s my feeling," Arteta said during his post-match press conference when he was asked about Jesus. "He had to come off on a stretcher, with a lot of pain, touching his knee. It’s not looking good. I think it is the other one [and not the knee he injured at the 2022 World Cup]."

Liverpool is currently six points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table and has a game in hand the Merseyside derby — to play. As it stands, the Gunners are showing few signs of putting together a run of results that would really ramp up the pressure on Arne Slot's side at the top, not least because of injuries.

Arteta has only won one FA Cup in his time in charge of Arsenal but admitted post-match that he couldn't guarantee silverware this year. Newcastle United leads the Gunners by two goals at the halfway stage of their Carabao Cup semi-final. Arsenal has never won the Champions League before but could be among the contenders.

Liverpool.com says: While Liverpool still has a job to do in the Premier League, it is hard to see Arsenal putting together a 10-game winning streak to really put the pressure on. Recently, there has been no evidence of that happening. Injuries don't help, of course, but Arsenal has not been as consistent as Liverpool lately, and the Reds have had plenty of players sidelined themselves.
