Mikel Arteta: Arsenal manager has no plans to leave despite shock Barcelona reports
Mikel Arteta has no plans to walk away from Arsenal at the end of the season.
Reports in Spain on Sunday night claimed Arteta is ready to step down and take the Barcelona job in the summer after Xavi announced he is leaving the Catalan giants.
But Arteta remains committed to Arsenal, where he is contracted until 2025.
Arteta, who took over from at Arsenal from Unai Emery in 2019, came through the Barcelona academy and has often been linked with a move to the Nou Camp.
But he has always played down links to Barcelona and stressed his commitment to Arsenal.
Arteta is determined to win major trophies with the Gunners, who can go second in the Premier League with a win at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and also have a winnable last-16 Champions League tie against Porto next month.
Xavi announced his decision to leave Barcelona after they lost 5-3 at home to Villarreal over the weekend.
Barcelona conceded twice in added time at the Nou Camp and the result leaves them 11 points off LaLiga leaders Girona.
