If Arsenal lose to Manchester United in Sunday's FA Cup clash at the Emirates then it will be interesting to hear what Mikel Arteta makes of the ball. Just days after the Gunners boss highlighted differences with the football used in the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United, the North London side will have to adapt to ANOTHER ball this weekend.

Mitre, the official ball supplier of the Emirates FA Cup & Adobe Women’s FA Cup, has unveiled limited-edition winners’ balls for the first time. As Man United are current holders, they will use the special edition ball against Arsenal on Sunday, and will continue to do so as long as they stay in the competition, up until the final.

It comes hot on the heels of Arteta's complaints about the difference between the Carabao Cup ball and the Premier League ball as the Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Eddie Howe's side in the first leg of their semi-final.

"I think we kicked a lot of the balls over the bar and it is tricky, this ball flies a lot," Arteta said. "We discuss that as well so there are details we can do better. But in the end, that's gone. This is no way back, it is about the next game.

"That is our world. It is just different, very different to the Premier League ball and you have to adapt to that because it flies differently. When you touch it, the grip is very different as well and you have to adapt."

The Ultimax Pro footballs celebrate Mitre’s rich football heritage, with a design inspired by the Mitre Ultimax from the late 90s that was given to the champions of the Premier League. While steeped in history, the winners' balls have been reimagined for the modern game and are expected to become a coveted collector’s item with less than 500 made.

The designs for the 2024-25 Emirates FA Cup and Adobe Women’s FA Cup Ultimax Pro footballs have been enhanced for these special winners’ balls with bright, gold accents that highlight the magic of the cup and 'bring pride to the reigning champions’ play'.

Simon Rowe, Senior Vice President of Mitre & Global Sports Marketing at Pentland Brands, said: “We’re always looking to bring something new and exciting to the game, and the introduction of the winners’ balls is a perfect way to celebrate the reigning champions, Manchester United. The Emirates FA Cup and Adobe Women’s FA Cup create so many unforgettable moments for players and fans, and we hope the Winners’ Balls add an extra layer of excitement and prestige to this iconic competition.”
