Mikel Arteta faces January transfer decision as Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund eye deal
Oleksandr Zinchenko has reportedly been subject to an enquiry from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.
The Arsenal star has struggled for regular game time this campaign, falling behind teenage left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori. Despite playing a major part for Mikel Arteta's side, in recent years, Zinchenko is now effectively third choice at left-back.
Reports from The Daily Mail indicate that Atletico have reached out to Arsenal to enquiry about a potential deal. Manager Diego Simeone is keen to strengthen his defensive options - and Zinchenko's ability to play inn defence and midfield makes him an appealing prospect for the La Liga side.

In addition to Atletico, Borussia Dortmund have also been credited with an interest in the Ukrainian - though they could find Arsenal's financial demands challenging. football.london understands that Dortmund's interest is very much real and the Bundesliga giants have been interested since last summer, but they will not overpay to land him.
That will open the door to other potential suitors, of course, and a move to Spain would be Zinchenko's first, having previously played in Russia and the Netherlands.
Zinchenko was a stand-out signing in 2022 and played a pivotal role in transforming Arteta's team into title contenders. With only 13 appearances this season, four of which were starts, and never completing a full 90 minutes, it's clear that Timber and Calafiori are ahead of him.
As the left-back enters the final 18 months of his contract, this transfer window could be the final time to secure a decent fee for him. Arsenal paid Manchester City £30million for his services in 2022.
With Arteta reported to be keeping tabs on AC Milan's Theo Hernandez, it appears the club have already identified a potential replacement. Milan are thought to have slapped a €50m (£42m) price tag, with his contract running out in the summer of 2026.
Besides Arsenal, the French star has also been subject of interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid.
