Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed the club are 'actively looking' to improve the squad in the January transfer window.

The Gunners have endured a quiet window so far with no new players signed. However, with injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus has left them incredibly short in attack.

Saka suffered a hamstring tear over Christmas before Jesus was stretchered off in Sunday's FA Cup defeat to Manchester United. Reports have stated the Brazilian has suffered a suspected ACL rupture which could leave him out for some time.

There have been calls for the Gunners to add reinforcements to the squad this winter to give Arteta's men the best chance of winning the Premier League title. The north Londoners are also competing for the UEFA Champions League.

Arteta has remain tight-lipped on his stance regarding transfers so far this month, but ahead of Wednesday night's north London derby with Tottenham Hotspur, the Spaniard admitted the club are looking at possible reinforcements.

Asked about possible movement in the January window, he said: "My answer remains the same, we are actively looking in the market to improve the squad. We are looking, we are trying."

He added: "We have to believe that we will bring in something that will make us better."

Nico Williams, Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic have all been names linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Reports have suggested a loan move may be favoured this month.
