Mikel Arteta has made Arsenal transfer promise as Benjamin Sesko move in the balance
Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are not willing to compromise on quality when it comes to signing players in January amid links to Benjamin Sesko. The club may look to loan players this window if their primary targets prove unmovable during the window market.
football.london understands Arsenal’s interest in Sesko has persisted from the summer when a deal was not possible before the European Championships. The club have other key targets such as Nico Williams, Martin Zubimendi and Jorrel Hato.
Zubimendi is a player who is expected to be pursued in the summer with a release clause that will allow for some negotiation over a move. However, the need this January has always been surrounding the forward line.

Williams' wages have proven to be the sticking point despite he too, like other La Liga players, having a release clause the club could opt to pay. Sesko, however, saw his clause removed when he signed a new deal in the summer.
Mikel Arteta was asked by football.london earlier in the month whether the needs of the window would see the club's high bar for players in terms of quality loosen. The Gunners boss gave a clear stance on this.
"Hopefully not," he said. "We set very high standards and we really only want to have players, if they come through the academy or we have to sign those players to really elevate and impact the team, otherwise bringing bodies it doesn't help us."
Players in the past like Raphinha who the club wanted but went elsewhere did not see the club pivot to a different target. Arsenal have built a side which in less than three years went from being outside of European competition to fighting with Manchester City for the title.
If Sesko or a player of similar admiration this window is not attainable, the club are highly unlikely to direct funds to an alternative if not ticking the boxes Arteta demands of that of his team. Instead, it could be this lingers through to the summer.
