Mikel Arteta plots £126m triple Arsenal transfer move as five exits sanctioned in huge overhaul
Arsenal look to be gearing up for a huge summer transfer window under Mikel Arteta. Ahead of the 2024/25 season, the Gunners were focused on raising the floor of the squad as opposed to the ceiling which ruled out any marquee signings such as the £105million Declan Rice deal sanctioned 12 months prior.
Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino were the duo to arrive on permanent deals while Raheem Sterling and Neto also joined on loan from Chelsea and Bournemouth, respectively. Despite injury issues to a number of key players, Arsenal are still just about in the Premier League title race.
However, even with some of those issues still ongoing, Arsenal did not bring in any new signings during the January transfer window. While there were certainly opportunities to do so, particularly in attack, Arteta appeared content that no moves were completed.

"We had a clear intention which is always there is a window open to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can impact it," he admitted in a press conference.
"We haven't achieved it so we are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring certain kind of players and we have to be very disciplined with that as well and I think that we will." However, that lack of business could result in a very busy summer.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Arsenal believe they will reap the rewards of not sealing any January arrivals this summer. A striker addition, central midfield signing and back-up goalkeeper arrival look set to be completed with decisions to be made on which players are acquired.
Newcastle star Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are top of Arteta's striker wish list with the latter considered a more viable target given the general belief that he has £55million release clause in his contract. In midfield, Martin Zubimendi looks set to join from Real Sociedad.
Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all been rejected by the Spaniard in recent seasons but it looks as though he has now decided to join the Gunners with the plan being to pay for his arrival in instalments as opposed to activating his £51million release clause.
In between the sticks, interest in Espanyol's £20m-rated Joan Garcia looks set to be renewed as Neto heads back to Bournemouth. As for departures Jorginho and Thomas Partey are in line to depart as free agents upon the expiry of their respective deals.
A total of three defenders could also move elsewhere with Kieran Tierney expected to return to Celtic while Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko may look to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Borussia Dortmund were interested in the latter during January while Kiwior is expected to have a number of suitors in Italy.
