Mikel Arteta reveals 'confidence' as he's asked about Ollie Watkins to Arsenal transfer
Mikel Arteta has refused to discuss Arsenal’s transfer interest in Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
Villa have rejected an offer thought to be £60m from the Gunners for their star striker ahead of Monday’s January transfer window deadline.
Watkins scored for Villa as they beat Celtic to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night, while Arteta’s Arsenal beat Girona 2-1 in the Champions League.

Arteta was asked about the Gunners’ Watkins bid and his club’s transfer business, and he said: “I can’t talk about any of that. My confidence is that we have an amazing club with people always working to try and improve. Let’s see what happens.”
Villa boss Unai Emery was also quizzed about the situation after his side’s victory over Celtic. He said: “I don’t want (to sell).
“It is good news to have offers from other clubs or interest. We want to keep our sporting objective through the players we have in the squad.
"Every player can be in the market if it is good for the player and the club. To get this deal we are going to be demanding. Watkins is our striker.”
