Mikel Arteta has revealed that Arsenal are 'not thinking' about sending Raheem Sterling back to Chelsea in order to get another domestic loan in this month.

Sterling, 30, has struggled since joining the Gunners on loan in August. The former Liverpool and Manchester City man has scored just one goal and added two assists in 15 appearances across all competitions this season. He has started seven matches and played just 633 minutes of first-team football.

With Sterling enduring a difficult start to life at the Emirates Stadium, there has been talk that he could be sent back to Chelsea. The Gunners have filled both of their domestic loan spots, with second-choice goalkeeper Neto - who arrived from Bournemouth to provide support for David Raya - the other.

If Sterling or Neto are sent back, the Gunners would have space to look at signing someone else on loan from an English club in January. That question was put to Arteta before his side's trip to Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, and the Arsenal boss provided his stance on the situation.

Asked about whether Sterling or Neto could leave Arsenal, Arteta replied: "We're not thinking about that."

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund are eyeing up a January move for Oleksandr Zinchenko. The German club are ready to make their move to sign the Ukraine international, according to The The Telegraph, who state that he is expected to leave the Gunners before the end of the transfer window.

Meanwhile, Kieran Tierney is expected to leave Arsenal in 2025 with former club Celtic on the verge of agreeing a pre-contract deal for him to officially join this summer. The Scotland international joined the Gunners from Celtic in 2019 but has seen injuries impact his minutes in recent seasons.

He came off the bench for what was likely his final appearance at Emirates Stadium against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday with it being claimed he is close to agreeing terms for a Celtic return.

As for incomings, the Gunners have not signed a first-team player so far this month but Arteta has not ruled that out from changing. A new forward appears to be at the top of their shopping list with Gabriel Jesus out for the season and Kai Havertz struggling for consistent form this season.

"Have I ever said no to a striker?" Arteta added. "We lost two very important players in Saka and Jesus, we lack goals and options in the front, it's clear.

"If we can get the right player, that's what we're actively looking at."
