Mikel Arteta will see a major Arsenal financial boost arrive in the coming days following the agreement of a January transfer. Arteta and Co. are yet to welcome any new signings in the first third of the winter window and it could well continue to be a quiet trading period for the Gunners.

With Bukayo Saka out for an extended period and Ethan Nwaneri, who replaced him on the right, unavailable for the next few weeks, calls for an attacking signing have been huge. Despite that and the opportunities available in the market, Arsenal do not currently appear to be pursuing anyone.

That may change very quickly of course, but it could very easily be a second successive January window where Arteta does not strengthen his squad. In his latest press conference, the Arsenal boss was asked specifically about transfers and what the club look for in new additions.

“First of all, someone who can impact the team, bringing bodies it doesn’t help at all," he said on Friday afternoon. “In this market that is something very difficult to achieve. It's always a possibility if it’s somebody that is going to make us better.”

"We have certain limitations and we have lots of gaps and things you have to cover. It's also about the players and whether you can afford them.” Though there is minimal January activity within Emirates Stadium, a player sealing a move looks set to hugely impact Arsenal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, striker Mika Biereth recently signed his Monaco contract after the French club and Sturm Graz agreed a £12.6million (€15m) package deal. The academy star only departed permanently last summer and in the terms for that move, football.london understands a significant sell-on clause was included.

Confirmation of his transfer is expected to arrive soon with the final formalities in the process of being sorted. While it is unlikely to be a significant cash injection, if the percentage value is at 10 or above, a seven-figure windfall will be heading the way of Arsenal.

Though it is unlikely, if there are any profit and sustainability concerns, some further funds will certainly alleviate those. In terms of it impacting their own January business, it is unclear what could follow but many will be hoping some attacking additions arrive before deadline day.
