Millwall boss Alex Neil acknowledges Romain Esse is close to Crystal Palace switch
Millwall boss Alex Neil has revealed that Romain Esse is closing in on a move to South London rivals Crystal Palace.
The 19-year-old was left out of the Lions FA Cup clash against Dagenham and Redbridge on Monday evening with a move to Selhurst Park progressing.
Earlier this week, Neil shared that the Championship outfit would demand 'significant money' for the Millwall academy product.
The England Under-20 international has five goals and one assist in 25 games for the Lions this term.
Esse emerged as a top priority for the Eagles after sporting director Dougie Freedman watched the Lambeth-born attacker keenly throughout the first half of the season.
Speaking after Monday's FA Cup third round tie, Neil said: "There was not an issue. Crystal Palace have shown a lot of interest [and] I didn’t make him available for the game. That situation is progressing, and I didn’t want to put it at risk at this stage."
