Three weeks into the January transfer window and Liverpool are yet to bring any new players to Anfield. There is still plenty of time for that to change, with rumours continuing to fly about the business that the Reds may look to conduct.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has until February 3 to add new players to Arne Slot's squad for the second half of the season. It remains to be seen if Liverpool will go into the market for new signings, with clubs across the Premier League already strengthening their squads.

Slot has guided Liverpool to the top of both the Premier League and Champions League standings in his first six months as the club's new head coach. The Reds will have ambitions of winning at least one major trophy this term, and speculation continues to emerge claiming that the Anfield hierarchy may want to add to the squad to give Slot the best chance of success.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at what Liverpool's dream transfer window may look like based on some of the latest news and rumours.

Milos Kerkez deal

One player who has been linked with Liverpool is Milos Kerkez. The Bournemouth left-back has been one of the stars in his position in the Premier League this season, leading to several clubs expressing an interest.

The Manchester Evening News recently reported that Manchester United are interested in signing Kerkez. Liverpool have been linked with the Hungary international for several months, with suggestions that Bournemouth value that player at around £40million.

Liverpool already have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas as their left-back options in the squad. Slot rotates between the duo, with rumours frequently emerging that the Reds may look to sign a new first-choice left-sided defender in the weeks or months ahead.

Bournemouth will not want to let Kerkez go easily. Liverpool will know that, but if they want to strengthen left-back and avoid competition from the likes of Man United, then the sooner a deal can be agreed, the better.

Contracts, contracts, contracts

Not a day has gone by where the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have not been generating headlines. All three players are out of contract at the end of the season and are yet to put pen to paper on extensions.

Now that January has arrived, all three players can open talks with clubs outside England about signing pre-contract agreements. Talks remain ongoing between Liverpool and the representatives of the trio and will hope to reach agreements in the near future.

The chances of all three signing extensions before the February 3 transfer window deadline may be unlikely, given there are now less than two weeks to go. But if one, or maybe two, can get over the line, it would certainly give a major boost to everyone connected to the club for the second half of the season.

Jonathan David consideration

The talk of Liverpool being in need of a new No.9 ramped up when the January transfer window opened. Darwin Nunez's match-winning brace against Brentford has quietened down the noise somewhat, but the rumours are still there that the Reds could be in the market for a new striker.

One player who has been linked with Liverpool in the past is Jonathan David. The Lille striker was rumoured to be a target for the Reds in 2020 before the club signed Diogo Jota from Wolves.

It has been reported by Chronicle Live that Newcastle United are now showing an interest in signing David. Liverpool have often been 'opportunistic' in the transfer market, and such an opportunity could present itself if David remains a player of interest.

David has voiced his desire to play in the Premier League in the past. If the striker remains on Liverpool's radar, and Newcastle advance their interest in the player, the Reds may want to try and beat their top-flight rivals to his signature before the deadline.
