Miron Muslic has stressed the importance of relegation-threatened Plymouth Argyle adding to their squad over the final two weeks of the January transfer window.

The Pilgrims have already brought in attacking player Michael Baidoo from Swedish side Elfsborg for an undisclosed club record fee and Poland international left-back Tymoteusz Puchacz on loan from German Bundesliga club Holstein Kiel this month.

However, it is clear if bottom-of-the-table Argyle are to stand any chance of escaping relegation they need some more signings, and the clock is ticking towards the 11pm deadline on Monday, February 3.

Muslic said after the 1-0 defeat by Queens Park Rangers at Home Park: "We are looking for some reinforcement. We will need this to strengthen up our squad." He went on: "It's busy for all the clubs and right now it's very hectic, but I think we are on a good way to support this current squad with new players."

The Argyle squad continues to be hit by injuries, with Conor Hazard, Joe Edwards, Brendan Galloway, Kornel Szucs and Muhamed Tijani all sidelined against QPR so extra depth as well as more quality is required.

Muslic said: "It's not only about getting the players in, it's about supporting this current squad, and they need this. Argyle was very clear to me over the last 10, 12 days that they are pushing and preparing the necessary support for the team. I think in the next couple of days we will have some players here."

Asked whether he would be disappointed not to have one or two new signings before the visit of third-placed Burnley to Home Park on Wednesday night, Muslic replied: "It's not about being disappointed. It's finding solutions.

"I know the time is ticking because the schedule is heavy but it's about finding the right personality and the right character. Players who realise the urgent situation we are in, ready to come here to fight, to support, and to find a way out. If we can manage to do this we have a chance to stay up."

Some potential signings might rule out joining Argyle because of their position at the bottom of the Championship table so the task is to find others who are up for the fight.

"Then you know they have the right character to pick up this challenge," said Muslic. "The challenge will remain for the next weeks and months, and that's a situation we have to accept."

Muslic has already ruled out Galloway and Szucs for the game against Burnley, leaving Victor Palsson and Julio Pleguezuelo as currently the only fit and available central defenders. The head coach also suggested Argyle would have to be patient over Hazard 'otherwise we could lose him for weeks and months.'

On-loan Burnley striker Michael Obafemi was not in Argyle squad's for the defeat by QPR and Muslic explained that was a selection decision and not due to an injury. Obafemi will not be allowed to play against his parent club on Wednesday night.
