Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been told he should have received a penalty after a tussle with Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina on Saturday evening.

The Blues had taken an early lead at the City Ground when Mykhailo Mudryk scored a neat goal inside eight minutes. However, Mauricio Pochettino's side were pegged back shortly afterwards thanks to Willy Boly's header.

The big talking point of the first half though came when Jackson looked to be thrown to the ground by his marker as a corner was played. Chelsea appeals were waved away but former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher insisted that the forward had every right to feel aggrieved by the lack of a decision.

He told Sky Sports' Ref Watch: "I don’t know why the defenders do this. We saw one with Luton last week and [Jarrad] Branthwaite.

"You look at that, [Aina] has no intention of playing the ball and it is such a massive risk." Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock was perplexed by the call from the officials, adding: "It is a penalty.

"It is unbelievable and how it has not been spotted is just beyond me because it is right in the middle and it is an MMA move. It is ridiculous."

Fortunately, the call did not prove to be costly for the Blues. Despite former player Callum Hudson-Odoi curling home a strike to put Forest ahead with 15 minutes of normal time remaining, a quickfire double from Raheem Sterling and Jackson ensured the three points returned to the capital.
