The contract situation of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has "completely changed" according to a new report from Spain, with one outlet claiming that he is on the verge of agreeing a new deal at Anfield.

The Spanish newspaper MARCA says the new terms for Salah could penned before the end of the month because the Egyptian forward has been "seduced" into staying at Liverpool. Salah is "now close to remaining a Liverpool player for another season", the report states.

"I’m probably more out than in," Salah told reporters after netting a brace against Southampton last month. "We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club."

Liverpool has since put an offer on the table for Salah's representatives to consider, The Athletic has reported. From January 1, the player will be free to talk to clubs abroad about a potential free transfer in the summer of 2025.

Interest from Saudi Arabia in Salah remains strong but there is no appetite from the 32-year-old to move away from the pinnacle of the game. Right now, there is an argument for him being the best player on the planet. Salah has scored 16 times already this season while his cross for Cody Gakpo at the weekend against Fulham was his 13th assist since Arne Slot arrived at Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, meanwhile, are in the same situation as Salah. They too are in the final year of their Liverpool contracts as things stand.

Liverpool.com says: Getting Salah tied down to a new deal is obviously the right thing to do for the Reds. It can't be at any cost but he clearly wants to stay and Liverpool needs his goals and assists. Coming to an agreement should be possible as a result, though there will need to be a compromise and a breakthrough in negotiations.
