What Mohamed Salah did during Liverpool Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven speaks volumes
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah does not take defeat lying down - even when he is not directly involved. The top goalscorer was handed a rare midweek off as the Reds faced PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, but didn't take the time to put his feet up.
Arne Slot left 12 of his key Liverpool players, including Salah, back in Liverpool for Wednesday's trip to Eindhoven. With round of 16 qualification sorted and therefore little riding on the result, the head coach announced his plan to give rest time to those that will tackle a Premier League trip to in-form Bournemouth and a Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham Hotspur in the coming week.
"They will be off. We want our players to be off three days before a game although that is not always possible. They will train on Thursday so a few staff members will go home earlier (from Eindhoven) to the ones who stayed behind."

In the meantime those that didn't play what turned out to a be 3-2 defeat should have been recharging their batteries. With 18 Champions League fixtures taking place simultaneously, 'taking it easy' could very mean sitting down and strapping in for a night of football.
Not for Salah, though, who during the Reds' meeting with PSV was hard at work in his home gym.
He posted this story to Instagram whilst a much-changed team fell to defeat at the Philips Stadion, evidently ready to resume training on Thursday morning ahead of Saturday's trip to Bournemouth. There is no rest for Salah until the Premier League trophy is back in Liverpool hands.
As this is the type of picture Salah often uploads to his social media, Slot has often elected not to rotate his squad for midweek matches. His choice to avoid a full-strength line-up may prove a masterstroke with little less than 72 hours between fixtures.
The Cherries have proven a formidable foe for many this term, especially Arsenal, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest at the Vitality Stadium. The last of those was most recent, and ended 5-0 to Andoni Iraola's side.
