Mohamed Salah Liverpool contract theory suggested by Man City Premier League winner
Mohamed Salah is 'protecting' himself with comments made about his ongoing contract negotiations, reminding Liverpool bosses of his desire to renew. That is the belief of former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, who is highly impressed with the Egyptian this season.
On Friday the latest interview with Salah saw the man himself give an update Reds supporters were dreading. Now into the final six months of his Anfield contract, he says there has been 'no progress' to provide an update on.
"Do I believe this is my last season? So far, yeah. It's the last six months," he said, adding: "There is nothing, no progress there and we are far away from any progress, so we just need to wait and see."

This comes after Salah spoke to the ECHO and a number of other publications in November announcing his disappointment not to have been given an offer at that stage.
"I've got a bit of a different view to everything that's gone on. I'm seeing a player in the last six months of his contract, we've experienced that and there's all sorts of things going on in your head - you've got to protect yourself," Hart analysed for TNT Sports prior to Newcastle's win at Tottenham on Saturday.
The ex-goalkeeper has witnessed his former Man City side drop far from Premier League title contention, whilst Salah's contributions have elevated Liverpool to first place.
He added: "I'm seeing someone who represents his club to the max, represents his team, scores important goals, is carrying his team to an incredible season.
"They're the facts we can deal with - everything else is speculation. He's told us they're a little bit away but that's for the people above him, and that's the business of the footballing world. The football side of things, he's taken care of and been absolutely incredible."
