Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is enjoying life under Arne Slot this season, with the Egyptian admitting that he didn't expect Jurgen Klopp's replacement to make such an impact so quickly.

Under Slot, Salah is producing some exceptional individual numbers. He has already hit the 20-goal mark and is on track to rack up at least that number of assists too across the course of the campaign. Liverpool is all but through to the knockout phase of the Champions League without the need for a play-off and is six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

"Before I worked with him, I didn’t expect it," Salah told TNT Sports Mexico. "But once I started working with him, I wasn’t surprised anymore because I see how he’s into details and how he focuses on the small things.

"He doesn’t have an ego if he makes a mistake he just tries to sort it. He’s very confrontational — which is somehow very good! He will tell you things in your face straight away. But I think it’s very important for the players to know what the manager wants and he explains things really well. It’s black or white — take it or leave it."

Salah will start for Liverpool this weekend with Manchester United coming to Anfield. And while he is still in talks over a new contract that could keep him at the club beyond the end of the season, the forward says his priorities have changed. The favorite for the Ballon d'Or in 2025, Salah says he is no longer as obsessed by individual awards.

"In the past, I used to go crazy for it," Salah said. "But I don't think it drives me anymore. I just want to win especially the Premier League more than the Champions League this year and be a big part of the team winning."

Liverpool.com says: Salah is having an unbelievable season and there is no doubt that Slot is getting the most out of him. He clearly loves being at Liverpool and that is why is seems inconceivable that a compromise wouldn't be reached on a new contract. He wasn't asked about that here but he will be plenty more times until something is sorted out.
