Mohamed Salah admitted that he and Liverpool are still far away from an agreement in contract negotiations after he dropped another masterclass in the Reds' 5-0 win at West Ham.

Salah scored one goal and assisted two more at the London Stadium, and also became the first player in Premier League history to register a goal and an assist in eight separate matches in a single season.

That is a remarkable feat considering Liverpool has not even reached the halfway mark in its 2024-25 fixture schedule, with 20 more league games to come in the new year. Salah has been producing his incredible performances for Liverpool against the backdrop of contract uncertainty, with his current deal due to expire at the end of June.

The Egyptian was asked whether he could provide Liverpool fans with any good news on his future any time soon but gave a response that most Reds supporters will probably be a little worried by.

"No, we're far away from that (giving some good news on his future)," Salah told Sky Sports. "I don't want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing has moved and now we're focused on the team."

The 32-year-old added: "The only thing in my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be a part of that. That's the only thing i think about this season. I will do my best for the team to win the trophy, we're going in the right direction, but there are a few other teams trying to catch us and they're very good teams. We have to stay focused, humble, work hard and go again."
