It appears Mohamed Salah kept a close eye on Arsenal's draw to Aston Villa on Saturday after Liverpool fought hard to come away with the three points at Brentford.

Darwin Nunez, a second half substitute, scored in the 91st and 93rd minutes for Arne Slot's side as they went seven points clear before Arsenal drew 2-2 with Villa. After goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, Villa responded through Ollie Watkins and Youri Tielemans in the second half, giving Liverpool a further boost in their Premier League title challenge.

It took Salah just six minutes after full-time to take to social media. The Egyptian shared a picture with Nunez without a caption, which showed the pair in good spirits before their flight back to Merseyside.

Supporters inevitably speculated the timing of Salah's post, given it was published so soon after a damaging draw for Arsenal. How much it was intended as a gentle rib in Arsenal's direction, only the Reds top scorer will know.

However, it wasn't the first time the Egypt captain has used his social platforms to be outspoken and cryptic at times.

The result leaves the Gunners six points from their title rivals, who still have a game in hand to Everton at Goodison Park. Third placed Nottingham Forest will be in action on Sunday afternoon, hosting Southampton (2pm).

A win for Nuno Espirito Santo's side will put Forest level on points (44) with Arsenal.

The North Londoners' attention will now turn to the Champions League when they host Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday. Mikel Arteta's team are in a good position to qualify for the knockout round of the competition and currently sit third in the table.
