Mohamed Salah has revealed where Liverpool need to improve after their 6-3 victory at Tottenham.

The Egyptian scored twice against the Lilywhites to take his goal tally to 18 for the season. The 32-year-old also set up Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz which means he now has 15 assists in all competitions.

Alexis Mac Allister scored the Reds' other goal, with James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke netting for the home side. Speaking after the match, Salah admitted Liverpool still need to improve defensively.

“We were quite good in front but I think we need to improve defensively as a team,” Salah told Sky Sports. Conceding three goals is quite hard. It’s quite good the result and hopefully we just keep going.”

Salah is the first player in the Premier League era to record 10 goals and 10 assists before Christmas, while his brace also took him fourth on the club’s all-time list of scorers. “It’s something great to achieve, it’s such a big club, but again the most important thing is we won the game,” added Salah, who said there was “no update” on his contract situation. The 32-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer.

Arne Slot admitted after the match that he has been impressed with Salah during the time he has been working with him. “Of course, you have an idea when you start working with players but the best way to judge or experience them is to start working with them,” he said.

“I think Mo shows what he has shown for many years at Liverpool. That he can score goals at any time and the team just has to provide him to go in these positions where he was in today many times to score or give assists.

“Apart from him being a good footballer, he is very likeable as a person to work with as well. He is always there to help his teammates, always down to earth. Tomorrow, or even now he will want to work on his recovery.

“He understands what it takes to be at this level every three days and is working really hard for this. That’s what impresses me that a top player like him, he understands how hard he has to work for the quality he shows.”
