Mohamed Salah sends cryptic transfer message amid Liverpool future and contract situation
Mohamed Salah has posted a cryptic message on social media in the aftermath of Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Sunday. Salah scored the Reds' second goal at Anfield but that wasn't enough to secure a fourth successive Premier League win and move eight points clear at the top of the table.
After an even first-half, United took the lead just seven minutes into the second period as Lisandro Martinez hammered home from inside the area. Liverpool equalised on the hour mark through Cody Gakpo, before Salah turned the game on its head, firing into the corner from the penalty spot. However, the Reds couldn't hold on as Amad Diallo levelled for United late on, earning a share of the spoils.
Salah has been in excellent form this season. The 32-year-old has 18 goals and 13 assists to his name in 19 Premier League appearances and is the division's top scorer ahead of Erling Haaland (16), while Cole Palmer, Bryan Mbeumo and Alexander Isak are locked joint-third on 13 across the campaign.

While Salah has helped Liverpool to the top of the Premier League, there has been widespread talk over whether he will stay at Anfield beyond the end of this season. Salah is one of three high-profile Liverpool players out of contract in the summer, including Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Speculation is continuing to rise over whether Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are going to sign improved terms - but the Egyptian hinted last week this will be his "last year" at Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, has been subject to two offers from Real Madrid and Van Dijk's future is uncertain.
Now, Salah has posted a cryptic message on social media involving the out-of-contract Liverpool trio. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Salah tweeted a single photo of just him, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk during Sunday's draw with United when Liverpool had a free-kick outside the area.
There was no caption on the post and no other Liverpool players were spotted in the image - just Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk. While the meaning of Salah's post is unknown, it's certainly one that could signify a number of different things - including the fact all three players could stay, or even leave, this summer.
Speaking on Friday in an interview with Sky Sports, Salah addressed his future. He said: "It's my last year in the club so you want to do something special for the city.
"We waited for that title for 30 years or so. So, to win it and it was the pandemic at that time, we didn’t really have time to celebrate it in the right way. It’s not a nice thing to do, so hopefully we can do it this year."
