Mohamed Salah sent Liverpool message as Thierry Henry makes trophy claim
Mohamed Salah has been tipped to win the Ballon d'Or after his superb displays for Liverpool. Reds icon Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry were in agreement that the Egyptian is in line for the accolade.
However, Micah Richards was left conflicted despite being teammates with the 32-year-old during their time together at Fiorentina. The CBS Sports and Sky Sports pundit was torn over whether Salah will land the award or if Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr will end his wait.
The Brazilian was controversially snubbed for the award last year, despite playing a key role in Los Blancos' five-trophy haul last term with Manchester City midfielder Rodri earning the majority of votes.

Salah is a hot-favourite to win the prize this year after a scintillating start to the campaign for the Reds. In the Premier League this term, he has scored 21 goals in 23 appearances, adding 13 assists.
Carragher was insistent that Salah will get his hands on the brass, gold, and pyrite trophy. And former Arsenal talisman Henry believes Salah is in the hunt but it depends on if his form continues and what the trophy return will be.
"I'm with Jamie, if he carries on like that. If he carries on like that," he said. "It depends on what they win."
Richards added: "He [Salah] is my mate but maybe... yeah probably Salah. [Vinicius could win] Just because of... [last year]. Vini or Salah."
Despite the claims that he is a contender for the personal accolades, Salah has remained focused on collective rewards at Anfield.
The Egyptian is into the last six months of his contract on Merseyside with negotiations ongoing over a new deal. However, Salah has been coy on his future as he admitted that he is preparing for his final matches for the Reds.
"The first thing that was on the list was to win the Premier League with Liverpool," he said last month. "In my interviews over the last seven or eight years, I always say [I want to win the] Champions League.
"But this is the first time I'm saying I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool." Salah added: "I have no idea. It's probably because we didn't celebrate the one we won in the way we wanted and also, coming back here too, it's my last year in the club so you want to do something special for the city. That was the thing in my head.
"We waited for that title for 30 years or so. So, to win it and it was the pandemic at that time, we didn't really have time to celebrate it in the right way. It's not a nice thing to do, so hopefully we can do it this year."
