Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the Reds cause as he celebrated the team's win over Lille by taking a selfie alongside fellow goalscorer Harvey Elliott.

The pair were on the mark for the Merseysiders as they booked their place in the Round of 16 with a 2-1 victory over the French visitors at Anfield. Arne Slot's side currently sits top of the Champions League group phase standings after winning all seven of its outings in Europe so far this season.

Salah opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a typically sumptuous finish from the left flank, having been put through on goal by Curtis Jones. Jonathan David equalized for Lille after the interval but substitute Harvey Elliott proved the hero for Liverpool as his deflected strike in 67th minute ultimately separated the two teams.

Following the game, the two goalscorers for the Reds beamed with pride as they posed for a picture together as the six-time European champions reached the knockouts. Speaking after the victory, Salah also became aware that he had scored his 50th goal in the competition on the night.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, he confessed he was unsure if he will be able to double that figure in the future, joking: "I'm not sure about that, but I'll give it my best. Something I'm very happy and proud of, especially as we won the game because that's the important thing. I wasn't focused about it before the game to be fair."

The Egyptian forward gave credit to Lille after an impressive showing at Anfield, while also admitting that Liverpool has room for improvement. He said: "They had a really good gameplan and have been unbeaten for 21 games so quite a tough team. We give them credit but I'm glad we managed to win the win.

"We recovered the ball from them, Curtis passed the pass very well and I managed to score. They went for the counter attack and managed to score."

Salah added: "Little bit disappointed about it because the clean sheet is very important. I think the manager will speak about it so we'll see. When you want to win a big tournament you need a big squad. We have good talent, players working very hard, the manager also has a good idea so we just have to give it a try and we'll see."

Meanwhile, matchwinner Elliott also hailed the efforts of his teammates, telling Amazon Prime: "It’s hard to describe. We’re just a family. I think we enjoy spending time together more than we do with our families.

"We’re happy to be with each other and are always meeting up outside of training, keeping in touch on days off. The group chat is always pinging off with messages. To be able to play in this team with not just amazing players, but amazing human beings, a great manager and coaching staff behind us, I feel like we’re in the best possible place to achieve big things this season."
