Morocco return to home soil for the first time since their triumphant World Cup campaign today - with Brazil their opponents.

The two teams are hoping to travel in different directions to the path they took at the winter tournament, with the Atlas Lions hoping to build on an historic run to the semi-finals.

Walid Regragui’s side can expect a heroes’ welcome in Tangier for their first game since the play-off defeat to Croatia in Qatar.

As for Brazil, their humbling in the World Cup quarter-finals led to coach Tite’s exit and they face Morocco under the tutelage of interim Ramon Menezes, ahead of the anticipated appointment of Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.

A host of fresh faces have been called up by the South Americans as they look to start afresh and regain their confidence.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Morocco vs Brazil is scheduled for a 10pm GMT kick-off today, Saturday, March 25, 2023.

The match will take place at Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier.

Morocco vs Brazil team news

Selim Amallah, one of Morocco’s star midfielders in Qatar, misses out through injury but Walid Regragui has a largely first-choice line-up to pick from otherwise.

How Ramon Menezes sets Brazil up is a bit of a mystery although he is without the injured Neymar and Richarlison, leading to Casemiro reportedly being named as captain for this friendly.

Thiago Silva has retired from international duty since the World Cup and the likes of Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus, Fred, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Bruno Guimaraes have been left at home.

Arsenal target Vitor Roque, Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes and recent Chelsea signing Andrey Santos are among the ten uncapped players in the Brazil squad.
