Morton bosses say fault which caused 'major gas leak' at Cappielow has been resolved
MORTON officials say an issue which led to a 'major gas leak' at Cappielow earlier this month has now been resolved.
The Ton announced on January 11 that their Championship clash with Raith Rovers the following had been called off due to a gas leak at their home ground.
Specialists were called in to deal with the 'frustrating' issue, which came just days after the club had pushed back the game by 24 hours to give Cappielow's playing surface time to recover from a spell of icy weather.
In a statement, club bosses have now confirmed the problem which caused the leak has been resolved and thanked the two firms that were brought in to fix the issue.

A Greenock Morton spokesperson said: "The club would like to confirm that the issue relating to the gas leak at Cappielow, identified on Friday, January 10, has been rectified and repaired.
"We would like to thank Plumbing & Heating on Tap and James Frew for their fast response that enabled us to avoid any serious issues, for capping our gas supply within minutes of the leak being identified, and for the repair works carried out.
"Due to the gas supply not being operational due to an issue relating to the pipework, we were unable to proceed with the match against Raith Rovers.
"This has now been fully rectified, and thanks to the quick response of club staff and our subcontractors we were able to avoid major issues and costs, other than the cancellation of the match, and normal service of our gas supply has now safely resumed."
