Morton General Manager says club will deal with Storm Éowyn damage head-on
MORTON General Manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald said the club will deal with challenges head-on after Cappielow sustained serious damage during Storm Éowyn today.
The Tele revealed earlier that a section of the roof of the popular Cowshed terrace had been ripped off by 95mph winds, forecast by the Met Office.
A red 'danger to life' weather warning was in place from 10am to 5pm on Friday, January 24.
The forecaster warned there was a high risk of damage to buildings and roofs in the affected areas.
And Cappielow was one of many buildings across Inverclyde that has sustained significant damage amid the stormy conditions.
Greenock Morton are the latest Inverclyde casualty to fall victim to Storm Éowyn as Cappielow Park suffered significant damage.

Large parts of the roof covering the stand were stripped away as the wider area was hit by disruption and damage.
This took place just two weeks after Ton's game against Raith Rovers was called off due to a 'major gas leak' found within the stadium.
But in an update released this evening, the Ton General Manager tried to reassure fans that the club can manage any fallout from the damage. He also confirmed that the club is working with insurers to try and resolve any damage, which will be assessed in the coming days.
The statement read: "Today’s storm has caused significant damage at the stadium and also to our local community.
"Due to the conditions still being challenging a full and accurate assessment of the damage will be conducted in the coming days.
"I have been in dialogue with our insurers across the day and we will work closely with them to ensure that we can manage the fall out from today’s storm.
"We understand supporters will be concerned by the severity of the images they have seen in relation to the Cowshed stand, and we will continue to provide updates as and when they are available in relation to the issues that have been/will be identified over the coming days.
"Given the lack of fixtures since the turn of the year, the recent gas leak at Cappielow and today’s storm it has been a frustrating start to 2025 but we will continue to face these challenges head on and as positively as we can.
"Finally, I hope everybody manages to navigate through the storm safely and without any issues."
