MORTON Women boss Gary Forbes admits he's delighted to have been able to add four new signings to his squad before they return to SWF Championship action in January.

The Ton boss has acted quickly ahead of the January transfer window, bringing in a quartet of new faces that he predicts will give his side an extra cutting edge at both ends of the park as they look to consolidate themselves in the third tier of women's football.

He told the Tele: "I'm delighted to get them in the building. Three of them are from Glasgow City's academy, so there's a good pedigree behind them.

"It also means that they're girls that I know well, having been there previously, so I think they'll come in and not only add depth to the squad, but they'll also real quality as well.

"They're three young players so not only will they want to come in and learn, they'll be eager to learn as well in a really competitive league.

"We've got Elisha Hope coming back to the club as well, after having a break from football in the last few years.

"She's someone who knows the club well and will give us some added experience in a really important period."

The delighted Ton supremo says that all four of his new arrivals, who'll provide adequate competition at both ends of the pitch, will add something a bit different to the squad who've already bettered last season's points and goals tally.

He believes that with competition for places increasing, the quality of his side will increase heading into the business end of the season.

He added: "I think with the arrivals, we're now heading into the second half of the season, quite fortunate to have a couple of wide players that can come in and prepare for our return to action in January.

"Pleasingly, we've got players that will come in and add a challenge for players within the group as well.

"It means we can really try and push the other players in that area of the pitch, which should give us an extra edge heading into the second half of the season."
