Arsenal could be set for a busy summer in their quest to make it to the next level under manager Mikel Arteta. The quest for a new sporting director continues with a host of names touted over replacing Edu following the Brazilian's exit.

The Gunners' Premier League efforts are fading after dropped points in each of their last two has allowed for Liverpool to move 13 points clear. Injury troubles have plagued selection opportunities for the Spaniard this term with Bukayo Saka forced to undergo surgery while further attacking options in Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were ruled out with season-ending injuries.

In recent weeks, the failure to sign a striker during the winter transfer window has been highlighted after Mikel Merino was deployed as a striker, following his match-winning double against Leicester City, against West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

The Mirror are reporting that there could be movement in North London in order to provide Arsenal with extra funds to enjoy a successful spell during the transfer window.

In their report, they claim that Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli could be used to balance the books to steer the Gunners clear of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules red line. A major shake-up has been dubbed with Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko linked with exits from the Emirates Stadium.

Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney are among the players who are out of contract with Raheem Sterling and Neto set to return to their respective clubs at the conclusion of their loans.

Arsenal have long-standing suitors with Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak after their respective rises to prominence. Sesko turned down an RB Leipzig exit last summer after attracting interest from a host of top European clubs, including the Gunners, while they face the task of breaking Newcastle United's resolve for Isak, who has netted 19 Premier League goals this term.

Nico Williams, the Athletic Bilbao attacker who starred for Spain at last summer's European Championships, has been suggested as nearing the top of their transfer targets as well as Bournemouth key-man Antonoine Semenyo. Anfield Watch reported earlier this month that Arsenal are interested in Diogo Jota.

It has been claimed that their Premier League rivals are willing to sell the 28-year-old for the right price. Although the Portuguese international's injury record could be a deterrent to their ambitions.

Injury issues have afforded the opportunity for Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri to progress to become first-team regulars but the problems and lack of options at the back shows the need to strengthen. Andrea Cambiaso was the topic of interest from Manchester City during the winter transfer window and the 25-year-old left-back can offer cover in the department after issues for Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori throughout the campaign.

Arsenal could win the race to sign Martin Zubimendi following reports that they were lining up a summer move for the Real Sociedad midfielder. Elsewhere, reports have suggested that the Gunners have an interest in Joshua Kimmich after his contract talks with Bayern Munich stalled.

Following Aaron Ramsdale's exit last summer, Arsenal were forced to sign Neto on a temporary basis but before that, there were reports that the Gunners were eyeing a move for Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow. With the added importance to provide a deputy for Dvid Raya, the 27-year-old could be a viable option to reignite.

Nottingham Forest defender Murillo could be a possible option to help an already formidable defence. The 22-year-old is a few years off his peak yet and, with his Premier League experience, could provide reinforcements in Arteta's backline.

The likely departure of Jorginho and Partey open up the need for further midfield options with the need to re-energise the engine room at the Emirates Stadium. VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, namely to Liverpool, the 23-year-old could be a target to bolster the ranks in the middle of the pitch.

With reports that Arsenal may look to sell Trossard or Martinelli but with the recurring problems hampering the latter's involvement, as well as the Belgian's form, the Brazilian could be used to line the coffers to sign Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who has been the subject of speculation over a move to some of Europe's elite this summer.
