Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly brutally mocked Manchester City forward Erling Haaland with his celebration at the Emirates Stadium.

Haaland was the focus point of the contest pre-match after his comments to Mikel Arteta earlier in the season where he urged him to 'stay humble' and him throwing the ball at Gabriel Magalhaes' head after John Stones equalised in the reverse fixture. It was clear the Arsenal players had not forgotten their rivalry with Haaland two minutes in when Gabriel laughed in the face of the striker when Martin Odegaard scored within two minutes.

The striker looked to be getting the last laugh though when he climbed above William Saliba to equalise. Parity lasted just a couple of moments though as Thomas Partey's deflected strike restored Arsenal's lead and a two-goal advantage was created when Lewis-Skelly fired home despite Stefan Ortega getting a hand on the shot.

As the youngster wheeled away in celebration, the full-back chose to mock Haaland as he sat down in a yoga pose mimicking the striker's iconic celebration. While Lewis-Skelly's teammates embraced him, Gary Neville was highly complimentary of the full-back.

"It's brilliant, what a smile," Neville said on Sky Sports' coverage of the game. "I remember back in the day playing against a young Ashley Cole who lit up the Premier League from the left-back position.

"He's doing just the same. I actually think Ortega should do better, he gets a strong hand on it but take nothing away from Lewis-Skelly for doing the right thing and it puts Arsenal into a great position here."

Arteta was asked pre-match about the skirmish between the two sides at the Etihad earlier this season. When asked if his players had put any feelings of bad blood to one side, he said: "I really hope so.

"I think holding anything negative emotionally doesn't help. "It's part of the competition, it's part of the game and let's leave it there and let's play a good football match which is what people want to watch."

Arsenal were leading the game 4-1 at the time of writing with Kai Havertz adding his side's fourth on the 76th minute.
