National media make Manor Solomon point as Leeds United keep pressure on Sheffield United
Leeds United kept their spot in the Championship automatic promotion places for Christmas after a 4-0 win over Oxford United at Elland Road.
Daniel James gave the Whites the lead at half time with a ninth minute goal. Jayden Bogle, Brenden Aaronsen and Manor Solomon provided in the second half to complete the rout.
Reflecting on the victory, Leeds boss Daniel Farke said: "Perfect way to start the festive days. An important win, impressive scoreline and impressive performance, especially over such a busy period. To deliver such a performance, I'm quite delighted with it.

"We could have scored quite a few more goals, especially in the first half. In the second, Ramazani had the chance to score a couple more. The most important [thing] is for us to return to the dressing room with a clean sheet, three points and the goals, they are good for the goal difference."
Here is what the national media made of United's latest Championship fixture:

Manor Solomon scored one and teed up two more as Leeds United coasted to a ninth successive home win and sent floundering Oxford United into the Championship relegation zone. Welshman Dan James slid in the opening goal from close range after Solomon eluded three challenges before finding his fellow winger.
Defender Jayden Bogle doubled the lead after the break, combining with Brenden Aaronson, who shot into the bottom corner of the net. And at 2-0 down, outclassed Oxford, with Craig Short in caretaker charge following Des Buckingham's departure and incoming boss Gary Rowett watching from the stands, became increasingly ragged.
Sloppy play in the middle of the park allowed Solomon to run through and tee up Aaronson to fire in the third before the outstanding Solomon got the goal his performance deserved, crashing the ball home from a tight angle after great work by Joel Piroe. Leeds played with freedom and confidence before the interval, with a fraction under 70 per cent possession and 12 attempts on goal.

Free-scoring Leeds United kept up the pressure on Sheffield United at the top of the Championship after cruising to a 4-0 win over struggling Oxford. Daniel Farke's side cut loose with three second-half goals from Jayden Bogle, Brenden Aaronson and Manor Solomon after Dan James had opened the scoring to make it nine straight league wins at Elland Road.
The heavy defeat saw Oxford, who sacked head coach Des Buckingham last week and have still to win away this season, drop into the relegation zone. They were watched from the stands by Buckingham's successor Gary Rowett who will take charge officially against Cardiff on Boxing Day.
Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu came through a full 90 minutes at the centre of the defence in what was his first start since September after a knee ligament injury. Attention now turns to two successive games on the road for Leeds at Stoke on Boxing Day and then Derby on December 29.

Winning the game before Christmas always feels good and when Leeds United's 4-0 romp over Oxford United finished, Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin' Stevens was greeted with loud cheers by the home supporters.
Just like they did last year, the Whites go into Christmas on the back of a 4-0 win. Daniel James, Jayden Bogle, Brenden Aaronson and Manor Solomon were among the goals to keep the heat on league leaders Sheffield United.
Despite some moments of frustration at the intensity of their game, Leeds showed real threat and prowess against Oxford. Beating one of the most out-of-form teams in the league isn't ground-breaking, but it is another step toward the Premier League.
