National Women’s Soccer League Sets 2024 Playoffs Docuseries Deal With Prime Video

Prime Video has ordered a docuseries that follows National Women’s Scoccer League stars through the 2024 playoffs and championship game.

“For the Win: NWSL” is billed as a four-part immersive series that tracks stars such as Alex Morgan, Trinity Rodman, Croix Bethune and legendary women’s soccer player Marta. Prime Video is a TV partner of the league. The streamer’s third season of NWSL coverage starts March 14 with the first of its 25 regular season games The NWSL season runs from March through November. There’s no word yet on a premiere date for the series.

“The series will take fans behind the scenes of one of the most thrilling seasons in NWSL history, chronicling the intensity, resilience, and passion that define the league’s top teams and star players as they battle for the ultimate prize: the Championship trophy,” Prime Video said of the series. “Through exclusive interviews, locker-room access, and heart-pounding match highlights, the documentary captures the nostalgia, emotion, and fierce competition that shapes a playoff run within the fastest growing league in the world.”

The NWSL was part of 2024’s miracle moment for women’s sports. The NWSL saw increased viewership of its games especially its playoffs and Finals series. In late 2023 the league announced four-year TV deals with CBS Sports, ESPN, Prime Video and Scripps Sports. The Nov. 23 championship game, in which the Orlando Pride beat the Washington Spirit 1-0, averaged 967,900 viewers, up 18% from 2023 levels.

“For the Win: NWSL” hails from Words + Pictures in association with the NWSL. Marie Margolius will direct. Executive producers are Connor Schell and Libby Geist of Words + Pictures, Eli Manning of Ten Till, and Alex Morgan of Togethxr.
