NBA trade deadline live updates: Jimmy Butler to the Warriors, De'Andre Hunter to Cavs, Jonas Valančiūnas to Kings as deadline passes

The NBA's trade deadline has now passed, and there were plenty of major moves across the league

The NBA trade deadline has now passed, and the league made plenty of wild moves in the days leading up to it.

The Dallas Mavericks shocked the world by dealing Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night in a deal that included Anthony Davis. The Sacramento Kings did what they had to do by sending former All-Star De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team deal Sunday night.

Many speculated this year's trade deadline would be difficult because of new CBA restrictions that greatly limit the flexibility of teams over the luxury tax, but monster headlines still ruled the day.

Kevin Durant stayed put. The ongoing Jimmy Butler saga ended on Wednesday night, too. The Golden State Warriors struck a deal to land the disgruntled Miami Heat star after weeks of turmoil in South Florida.

Yahoo Sports has you covered with the latest rumors, signings, trades and analysis as teams scrambled to make moves before the deadline. Details for every trade can be found here.

Live64 updates
  • Dennis Schröder was traded twice in less than 24 hours — after signing a lease in San Francisco

It's been a tough couple of days for Dennis Schröder, who was traded from the Golden State Warriors to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, is now heading to the Detroit Pistons.

Per ESPN's Marc J. Spears, Schröder was "pulled out of the showers" ahead of the Warriors' game in Utah last night. Schröder had recently signed a lease in San Francisco, per Spears, and had expected to stay with Golden State long-term — but now, he's getting rerouted to Detroit.

Schröder's trade to Detroit marks his fourth this cycle. He was traded to the Warriors on Dec. 15 after a short stint with the Brooklyn Nets. Schröder was also part of the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to Golden State, and was connected with the Miami Heat before being rerouted to Utah.

  • Marvin Bagley to the Grizzlies

Marvin Bagley is headed to Memphis as part of the Marcus Smart deal. Johnny Davis will join him, too.

  • Myles Turner survives

Myles Turner made it through the trade deadline unscathed 🤣

  • Pacers send James Wiseman to the Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are getting James Wiseman, and cash, from the Indiana Pacers right under the wire.

  • Clippers trading Kevin Porter Jr. to Bucks, receiving MarJon Beauchamp

The Los Angeles Clippers are trading Kevin Porter Jr. to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for MarJon Beauchamp, per multiple reports. The move swaps the two young players in a one-for-one trade.

  • Marcus Smart to the Wizards

The Memphis Grizzlies are sending Marcus Smart and a 2025 first-round pick to the Wizards in exchange for two second-round picks, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

The trade includes the Sacramento Kings, too, who will get Jake LaRavia as part of the deal.

  • Dennis Schroder to the Pistons in Jimmy Butler deal

Though he was briefly headed to the Jazz, Dennis Schroder is now being rerouted to the Detroit Pistons as part of the Jimmy Butler-Golden State Warriors deal.

  • Hawks send Cody Zeller to the Rockets

The Hawks are making moves ahead of this deadline. They just sent Cody Zeller to the Rockets, along with a second-round pick that the Rockets had previously owned, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. It's unclear what the Hawks are getting in return from this deal.

  • Clippers land Bogan Bogdanović

The Los Angeles Clippers have made a move right before the deadline. They are sending Terance Mann and Bones Hyland to the Atlanta Hawks for Bogdan Bogdanović and a trio of second-round draft picks, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The deal came about 40 minutes ahead of the deadline on Thursday.

  • Anthony Davis expected to make Mavericks debut on Saturday

Anthony Davis is expected to make his debut with the Mavericks on Saturday versus the Rockets, rather than during Thursday's matchup with the Celtics, according to Marc Stein.

Davis has been sidelined with an abdominal strain since Jan. 28. Dallas has played three games since acquiring the All-Star forward in the blockbuster trade involving Luka Dončić made last Saturday.

  • Report: Cavs acquiring De'Andre Hunter from Hawks

  • Suns trade Jusuf Nurkic

It's not a Kevin Durant trade or the acquisition of Jimmy Butler, and it cost Phoenix another draft asset, but the Suns appear to get some added depth

  • Bucks get some flexibility

Is Milwaukee cutting its tax bill or in need of an open roster spot? Only time will tell

  • Raptors make another move

After acquiring Brandon Ingram on Wednesday night, the Raptors made a minor move Thursday morning.

With the way the trade deadline works, there is a better than zero chance this could end up being part of the Jimmy Butler deal when all is said and done, but we'll have to wait and see.

  • Will the Warriors' high price for Jimmy Butler be worth it?

  • 76ers still making moves

  • Did the Jimmy Butler acquisition improve the Warriors' title odds?

Disgruntled six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler finally got a new home Wednesday, as his weeks-long standoff with the Miami Heat mercifully came to an end.

Butler, 35, was traded to the Golden State Warriors in a four-team deal that matches Butler's defensive mindset, toughness, playmaking and shifty scoring with the championship tandem of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as the Warriors attempt to push open the club's title window.

The Warriors, sitting at 25-25 and around the play-in the Western Conference, needed to do something to shake up things for their aging core. Was the Butler deal the right move? It's a major risk and he has had his issues with a few teams, but Golden State obviously felt the need to do something.

So as you can imagine, adding a proven star and the 2022-23 Eastern Conference Finals MVP had a positive effect on the team's odds to win the NBA Finals.

  • Lakers land Mark Williams

The Lakers made another deal on Wednesday night. They sent Dalton Knecht and Cam Reddish to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Mark Williams.

Williams will now presumably fill the gap left in the Lakers' lineup when they dealt Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks for star Luka Dončić.

  • Should the NBA move the trade deadline back to All-Star weekend?

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr wants the deadline pushed back to All-Star weekend. While it's unclear if that would get any traction, or if it's even possible, it's easy to see why he feels that way after Wednesday night.

The Warriors struck a deal with the Miami Heat to land Jimmy Butle right before their matchup with the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. Andrew Wiggins, who was traded to Miami in the deal, was warming up when the team was pulled back to the locker room.

The Heat were in the middle of the game when it went down, too, and a fan behind their bench actually broke the news of the trade to them during the contest.

That type of thing, Kerr said, is incredibly difficult.

"The league should consider making the trade deadline at the All-Star break, just so you don't have to face these games where guys are getting traded half an hour before a game and you're trying to process the emotions and trying to win a game. I don't know if that's possible ... I don't know how to do it, but these are tough days for sure."

  • Brandon Ingram to the Raptors

Brandon Ingram is headed to the Raptors. The New Orleans Pelicans struck a deal to send Ingram north on Wednesday night in exchange for Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick and a second-round pick.

  • Who won the Jimmy Butler trade?

The Warriors get a player who should come in and immediately fit their DNA. Butler, in connection with the trade, agreed to decline his player option for next season and sign a two-year extension worth $121 million, locking him in with the Warriors — presumably — until it's time for retirement.

  • There's some smoke in Golden State...

  • How the Luka Dončić trade has impacted ticket pricing, jersey sales and collectibles

Several days after the Luka Dončić-Anthony Davis trade shocked the world, the dust has begun to settle. Each player has conducted introductory interviews with his new team and is getting accustomed to a new roster of teammates, coaches and trainers.

The NBA will roll on, that much we know. But off the court, this trade could have rippling effects, with millions of dollars in lost salary, increased jersey sales and more.

For starters, Anthony Davis has opted not to receive his $6 million trade kicker. In what can only be considered an unusual move, especially given the total value of the option, Davis left seven figures on the table to help the Mavericks stay financially flexible to improve their roster, saying, “I'm just trying to do my part [to help the Mavericks get better].”

Dončić, on the other hand, will sacrifice much more. The bright lights of Hollywood will undoubtedly lead to more endorsement income over the coming years, but the trade could eventually cost the 25-year-old All-Star more than $100 million in total.

  • ESPN: 'Durant has no desire in a reunion with the Warriors'

Kevin Durant has been the hottest name in rumors and reports as Thursday's NBA trade deadline approaches.

But that heat appears to be cooling off. Amid reports that the Warriors would like to reunite with Durant, that feeling reportedly isn't mutual.

Per the Stein Line and ESPN's Shams Charania, Durant has no interest in reuniting with Golden State.

The decision's ultimately not up to Durant. He has a contract that runs through the end of the 2025-26 season, and he does not have a no-trade clause.

The question then becomes: Would the Warriors be willing to pull the trigger on a deal for a player who's reportedly expressed a clear desire not to play in Golden State? And that would be dependent on a deal being worked out in the first place. It adds up to a lot of barriers to Durant being moved before the deadline — to Golden State, at least.

  • Celtics trade Jaden Springer to Rockets: Report

Springer has been with the Celtics for the past two seasons after three with the 76ers, who made him their 2018 first-round pick out of Tennessee. Averaging 1.7 points in 26 games, he has a salary slot of $4 million this season and will be a restricted free agent.

  • Sixers ship KJ Martin, 2 2nd-round picks to Pistons

The 76ers are shedding salary, trading forward KJ Martin to the Pistons along with two second-round picks, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.

Martin, 24, has a salary of $7.9 million for this season and $8 million for 2025-26 and Detroit will get the two second-rounders in 2027 and 2031for adding that money to their $14 million in salary cap space.

However, the Pistons could move Martin to another team before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline, according to the Detroit Free Press' Omari Sankofa.

The fifth-year pro was held out of Philadelphia's lineup on Tuesday in anticipation of a trade. But he hasn't played since Dec. 23 due to a stress reaction in his left foot. This season, he's averaging 6.4 points and three rebounds per game, shooting 38% on 3-pointers.

  • Warriors pursuing Kevin Durant, maybe in multi-team deal that puts Jimmy Butler with Suns: Report

The Warriors have been seeking a star to boost their roster and it could lead to a reunion with Kevin Durant, reports ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

Windhorst explained on "Get Up" Wednesday morning that the Suns want to shake up a team that's 25-24 and can't trade Bradley Beal.

However, Durant going to the Warriors and the Suns shedding his salary could require a very complicated deal that involves four or five teams and multiple players. And by the end of it, Jimmy Butler might end up in Phoenix.
