Former Everton striker Neal Maupay has sparked outrage after poking fun at the Blues, whilst on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille. The 28-year-old took to social media after Sean Dyche's side suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.

The Frenchman continues his bizarre tirade against his former club after enduring a torrid time on Merseyside, where he managed just one goal in 32 appearances. After struggling at Goodison Park, Maupay returned to Brentford on loan, scoring six goals in 29 outings before returning to France's top-flight to join Roberto De Zerbi's side.

Maupay remains contracted at the Blues until 2026, although his loan deal with Marseille includes an obligation to buy upon its expiry, at the end of the season.

Taking to social media platform X, he wrote: "Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile." But his posts hitting out at Everton continued after a back-and-forth with a supporter.

He added: "See you in the Champions League next season." Before posting another comment hinting at relegation, replying: "*Championship".

Maupay was on the bench for both of Everton's defeats to begin the Premier League campaign as they suffered heavy losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur. In light of the 4-0 scoreline in north London, footage emerged online where Blues players were abused on the platform at London Euston.

"Imagine another job where it’s normalised to get abuse like this," said Maupay at the time, responding to the video. "Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best…"

The latest controversy involving the former Everton forward isn't the only social media fallout that he has caused. In light of his loan exit, he quote tweeted a post from Fabrizio Romano, regarding his move, with a clip from The Shawshank Redemption, where the main character Andy Dufresne breaks free from prison.
