Netflix Makes Historic WWE Raw Debut

Netflix debuted WWE's "Monday Night Raw" on Jan. 6. This marks WWE's shift from cable to streaming in the state-of- the-modern Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

This action comes from WWE's 10-year, $5 billion pact with Netflix. Included in the bundle are Wrestle Mania, "SmackDown," "NXT," and " Monday Night Raw." With Netflix's 283 million members in more than 190 countries, WWE aims to increase its worldwide audience and fan interaction.

To make viewing better, Netflix has included several fresh tools. There are no advertising, hence program runtimes are not constrained by broadcast schedules and action remains constant. With behind-the-scenes videos like its "Drive to Survive" series, Netflix hopes to pique fans' curiosity and provide wrestling analysis.

The farewell tour of John Cena started during the inaugural event, which made long-time admirers cry. Presumably due in part to past controversies, several audience members objected to Hulk Hogan's appearance.

The Royal Rumble will be shown on Feb. 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis via Netflix The first time outside of North America, Saudi Arabia will host WWE's 2026 Royal Rumble, therefore attesting to its global expansion.

With this Netflix-WWE alliance, professional wrestling enters a new age as the landscape of live sports changes.
