I never thought I'd play for Birmingham City - the atmosphere is something I've never experienced
Alfie May is loving life at the top of League One and admits he ‘never thought’ he would get to play for a club of the size of Birmingham City.
May, who has once again become a key player in Blues’ squad after injuries to fellow strikers Jay Stansfield and Lyndon Dykes, has started the last two games and has played his part throughout the campaign.
While he hasn’t found the net in his last 12 appearances, he is set for a run in the side and will surely end that dry spell soon as Blues continue to march clear at the summit.

Saturday’s 1-0 victory over second-placed Wycombe Wanderers saw them move 12 points clear with a couple of months left.
More than 27,000 people watched that game – with Blues’ average attendance for the season placing them close to the top of the Championship.
May, who has spent the bulk of his career in the lower leagues, is clearly enjoying it. “The atmosphere is something that I've never experienced before. It's every game, home and away,” May told Sky Sports.
“The numbers are incredible. You can't even hear yourself on the pitch. We've put ourselves in a great position, we're top of the league with a game in hand and with points on our side, but we don't want to take our foot off the gas.
"We want to treat every game like a cup final and get the job done. We want to win this league.
“It's a dream for someone like myself. It's a club I probably never thought I would play for. I come in everyday with a smile on my face.
“I have played most of my career, from 18 to 23, as a non league player and it grew me up as a person. I was a builder, I worked for my brother's business and after Tuesday night games you'd be back up Wednesday morning, early hours, to start a shift.”
