Marcelo Bielsa’s revolutionary coaching methods have been the focus of much scrutiny since he was named Leeds United manager.

The Argentine, who has been labelle ‘the godfather of modern football’ by some, has already revolutionised Leeds’ football, as they produced a sparkling performance to beat Stoke City 3-1.

Prior to that game he reportedly made his players pick up litter for three hours, because that is how long it takes a fan to earn enough money for a ticket.

But one eagle-eyed fan spotted another of his different methods at play during the game.

Bielsa’s grip of the English language is not great currently, although he is trying hard to get it up to scratch, so it seems like he placed coaches in the crowd to get his ideas across.

Leeds fan George Lindley Tweeted a photo of a man dressed in full Leeds United tracksuit barking out instructions from the stands.

He said that the man was stationed in the East Stand at Elland Road, barking out instructions to Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski throughout the game. One fan replied to his Tweet saying there had also been someone doing the same in the West Stand.

Fans on social media are questioning whether or not it is within FA and EFL rules to have a coach positioned in the stand like that.

Members of stuff who are in the dugout cannot leave the technical area, apart from the physiological, but plenty of teams have coaches and analysts in the stands – which is no different from Bielsa’s new method.

And Leeds’ gamble to employ the 63-year-old is clearly working, given their display on Sunday.
