New Liverpool keeper's classy gesture to troubled team-mate
The goalkeepers’ union is alive and kicking at Liverpool, with new boy Alisson set to reject the chance to take Loris Karius’ number one shirt.
Karius has endured a difficult two months after his errors in the Champions League final and Liverpool were quick to replace him in the transfer market.
Alisson will be Jurgen Klopp’s new No.1 after signing for £67m from Roma – a record transfer fee for a goalkeeper – but he is keen not to disrespect Karius and take his shirt number too.

Brazilian website UOL Esporte report that Alisson will instead opt for the No.13 shirt, so not to dent Karius’ confidence further.
As well as the two errors against Real Madrid, Karius fumbled a ball into his own net against Tranmere Rovers in pre-season and has endured boos from some Liverpool fans in friendlies and abuse on his social media.
The signing of Alisson means one of – or both – Simon Mignolet and Karius will leave Anfield in the next week, with Bayer Leverkusen linked with Karius.
Meanwhile, Klopp confirmed that Alisson will make his debut for the Reds against Napoli on Saturday.
“It’s pretty likely (he’ll make his debut). We should not waste time,” Klopp told the Liverpool website
“Then it’ll be nearly a week, or six days in training, since he (started) and yes, he will play.”
