New Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho 'eyeing Zlatan Ibrahimovic reunion' in January

Jose Mourinho is eyeing a shock reunion with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Tottenham, according to reports.

The former Sweden striker, now 38, will be available on a free transfer in January following the conclusion of his two-year deal with LA Galaxy.

And Mourinho, who worked alongside the striker most recently at Manchester United, is said to be eager to bring the star to north London.

Ibrahimovic made a big impact in his only spell in English football - scoring 29 times in 53 appearances after joining the Red Devils in 2016.

Mourinho, who was his manager until the striker departed in 2018, as well as in Milan when the pair were both at Inter, is eager to bring in attacking reinforcements to support England talisman and club captain Harry Kane.

Last season’s Champions League finalists have failed to replace backup striker Fernando Llorente after letting him leave in the summer.

No team has lost more Premier League games in 2019 than Spurs and the side are lingering in 14th with just three league wins to date, something that ultimately Pochettino his job on Tuesday.

It’s now down to his replacement, and perhaps an old acquaintance, to reinvigorate the team.
