Newcastle United admirers of two Bournemouth stars but face Chelsea transfer competition

Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs keen on signing Bournemouth duo Antoine Semenyo and Illia Zabarnyi, according to the latest reports from the i.

The Magpies are hopeful of bolstering Eddie Howe's squad in the January transfer window, but will need to move players on this month before looking at incomings. The Toon have been repeatedly linked with a move for Ghanaian international Semenyo, as the club look to strengthen their options out on the right-hand side of the attack.

Miguel Almiron has been linked with a number of clubs in the current window, but is said to be holding out for a return to the MLS, with Jacob Murphy ahead of him in the pecking order at St. James' Park this season. If the Paraguayan is to leave the club this month, it would be a welcome boost in terms of PSR with Newcastle wary of breaching the Premier League's strict rules.

It's no secret that Howe wants to strengthen his backline having been linked with a move for Marc Guehi in the summer. The report claims Newcastle are also admirers of Ukrainian defender Zabarnyi, but face competition from Chelsea to sign the promising you centre-half.

The Cherries, who have made a bright start to the campaign under Andoni Iraola, have recruited well in recent windows, with Liverpool keen on signing left-back Milos Kerkez and defender Dean Huijsen also attracting interest from across Europe.

However, despite interest in the quartet, the report claims none of them will be sold this month, with Bournemouth looking to offload defender Max Aarons and midfielder Philip Billing. The latter of the duo was linked with a move to St. James' Park last year but would stay on the south coast.
