Newcastle United face scary prospect as two pundits finally heap praise on Eddie Howe
Newcastle United fans left London with their team splashed across the back of every national newspaper after their stunning win at the Emirates Stadium.
On a night in which many Newcastle fans would have probably taken a small deficit to take into the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals, here the Magpies hold tightly to a two-goal buffer. There was a mixture of astonishment and delight in the press box when Newcastle took the lead through Alexander Isak and that only intensified when Anthony Gordon made it 2-0.
With some heavyweight pundits in attendance, the majority of them were left impressed by what they'd witnessed from Eddie Howe's side. One of them, who knows Howe well, Glenn Murray of BBC Five Live said: "I've played under Eddie Howe and he is definitely a coach as well as a manager.

"He does make players better and it shows. This all comes from his time at Bournemouth where he took a nucleus of a squad from League One to the Premier League. In order to do that you have to be able to improve players.
"It is probably different to a lot of other clubs in the top flight because if you are signed then there is an expectation that you are the finished product. Howe has a different outlook."
And former England and Manchester United star Dion Dublin was also left purring at the performance from Howe's stars. The ex-striker said: "Newcastle have their mojo back. "They were so aggressive in their press and so aggressive when they got the ball to pass to Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon or Jacob Murphy.
"Behind them you can see how the defence are organising while in possession just in case they lose the ball. They seem to have each other's backs and there is a lot of togetherness.
"There were lots of captains in black and white shirts taking responsibility. Every man stood up and did their job at a very difficult place to go."
Newcastle will need the same type of grit and determination in the second leg but there are five league and FA Cup games before then. This was very good, but Howe warned there has to be room for improvement.
After wins against Man United (a), Spurs (a) and now Arsenal (a), that is a scary prospect!
