A host of names continue to be linked with Newcastle United as they look to strengthen their squad at the end of the season. It was a quiet January transfer window for many clubs in the Premier League and it was no different for Newcastle with Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) now playing a major part in clubs' dealings.

However, Eddie Howe has previously suggested there is still room for signing 'established' players. He said: "I think, with PSR now that that is probably more weighted to that direction as well, because if you can bring one or two gems through it can have a massive difference and help to everything that we’re trying to achieve here, but I still think there’s there’s room for signing established players I think there has to be for where we are and the size of club that we are. So a mixture of both, really."

Many players continue to be linked with a move ahead of the summer already. And with that in mind, Chronicle Live has taken a look at the latest Newcastle United headlines from in and around St James' Park.

Newcastle learn Bryan Mbeumo price tag

The Toon remain in the race for the signing of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the summer. However, any chance they stand at securing the attacker's signature will require a decent chunk of money.

Well, Football Insider suggests £50million is what it will take to land the 25-year-old. Former Manchester United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown said: "I hear Newcastle are going to try for Bryan Mbeumo. Brentford are going to ask for £50million, and it seems to me that would be a reasonable price. “He scores goals, he’s very consistent in his performances, everybody knows what he can do on the pitch with his speed and ability to play across the front line.

"A lot will depend on Newcastle’s financial situation, but I expect they will know what they can and can’t spend and then they’ll adjust accordingly. But it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them move for Mbeumo in the summer. He’s been a top target for Eddie Howe and we know they want to strengthen that right-wing position, so he looks like the ideal player to do that."

Besides Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal are also alert to Mbeumo, who continues to impress in the Premier League. He has scored 14 times in 29 games across all competitions this term.

ChronicleLive says: Well, what a coup this would be for Howe's team. Mbeumo continues to prove himself in the Premier League and remind clubs why he's an attractive prospect. As Alexander Isak attracts interest elsewhere and in the event he does leave, Newcastle must be prepared to act quickly and ensure they get the right replacement - someone who can hit the ground running and Mbeumo would be the dream answer. However, any move they try to pursue will certainly have to be well within PSR, and with that said, a bidding war for the player is expected."

Antoine Semenyo remains on the radar

talkSPORT claims Antoine Semenyo has admirers at Newcastle United, which could hint at them trying to strike a transfer in the summer. The 25-year-old is having yet another strong season and has nine goals and five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this term.

It's not the first time he's been linked with a move to St James' Park however, and Newcastle were tipped to make a move for him in the previous two transfer windows. After a move didn't come to fruition, another opportunity may present itself again.

ChronicleLive says: "It is no secret Newcastle must fork out to reinforce the right-wing position in the summer. The club failed to strengthen that area after Miguel Almiron left and have gone long enough without doing so. Jacob Murphy has been the first-choice right-winger for Howe for a long time and now, more than ever, is important they address that given the ongoing injury issues to Joelinton and Harvey Barnes this campaign."
