Newcastle United and Liverpool discover Carabao Cup final kick-off time for Wembley showpiece
Newcastle United and Liverpool have learned the Carabao Cup final kick-off time after a lengthy wait for confirmation.
Despite worrying rumours of a 8pm kick-off doing the rounds on social media, the EFL have confirmed a kick-off time of 4.30pm on Sunday March 16. Despite four London teams set to play in the capital on the day of the final, the details have been confirmed after consultation with Brent Council Safety Advisory Group and the Metropolitan Police Service.
An EFL statement on Thursday read: "The League would like to thank both parties for their co-operation and support and look forward to continuing our proactive engagement for fixtures later in the season. Preparations will now continue ahead of welcoming back both Clubs and their fans to Wembley next month."

The first Newcastle tickets went on sale on Wednesday, with supporters in Pot 1 [season ticket holders enrolled on the cup scheme who attended at least five Carabao Cup matches] grabbing the prime slots inside Wembley. The purchasing window for the first three pots closes on Sunday afternoon, before a ballot will open for pots 4-6.
Newcastle have been handed an attendance of 31,939 for the West End of Wembley Stadium, with 867 'standing' seats included. Price categories will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis in each pot, subject to availability. The most expensive, adult, ticket costs £150, while the cheapest tickets are reserved for concessions, with the lowest available sitting at £20.50.
Ahead of tickets going on sale, the likes of the Newcastle United Supporters' Trust, Wor Flags, the Newcastle United Supporters' Club and True Faith released a joint statement urging supporters to create 'an electric atmosphere' for the final.
Their statement read: "With the release of cup final ticketing allocations, supporters groups have been discussing the frustrations amongst many about the atmosphere in our end the last time out at Wembley. In March, we want to ensure that we create an electric atmosphere in the stands.
"We're also aware of frustrations where people wanted to stand in areas where people wanted to sit, which were mainly located in the side sections. Whilst we can't tell you what to do or book, we hope those willing to stand and create an atmosphere throughout the entire game aim for Blocks 127-140 when purchasing. We aren't here to witness an atmosphere. We need to create one. Get behind the lads."
