Newcastle United negotiating exit of long-serving star after agent gets green light for move
Miguel Almiron has been given the green light to leave Newcastle United in January if the price is right.
The forward will be 31 in February and has slipped down the pecking order with the Magpies with Jacob Murphy currently way ahead of him Eddie Howe's selection plans. MLS side Charlotte FC are believed to be in "pole position" to sign the former Atlanta United star.
Almiron had agreed personal terms a long-term deal with Charlotte earlier this year but the American side could not seal the deal with a bid to tempt Newcastle into his sale. A bid of just under £14million was turned down back then but negotiations have been on going in the last fortnight.

Charlotte's MLS rivals, Toronto FC, are also waiting in the wings on a potential deal if Almiron can't agree on the move to his long-term admirers. A fee that will eventually add up to £16million could prove to be the tipping point for the forward's signature.
His agent Daniel Campos said: "Although Miguel is not happy with the minutes he has in England, he wants to stay and fight for his place at Newcastle. The coach (Eddie Howe) always supported him. When he made a request, he asked him not to leave. It must be a tactical or temporary issue."
Almiron's wage bill in the Premier League is believed to be £60,000 per week. He was a £21million buy from Atlanta United back in 2019 under Rafa Benitez. Almiron has been handed just 300 minutes by Howe this season but 164 of the minutes have been in the Carabao Cup.
